BA University of Northern Iowa; Bob is a former Naval Officer, classroom teacher, athletic coach and assistant school superintendent. He has more than 30 years business experience in sales & marketing, Director of Training & as President of an international company that developed & produced training programs for business, industry, education & government. As the president, he oversees all of the operations for all four centers in Frederick, MD; Gaithersburg, MD; Hagerstown, MD; Martinsburg, WV.
Masters of Education, Western Maryland College. Terri has taught Special Education in Frederick and Anne Arundel counties. Terri also directed staff development in Anne Arundel County. Her responsibilities include Directing the Frederick Sylvan Center, initiation of on-site contracts for private and public schools, and overseeing the operations of the Gaithersburg, Hagerstown and Martinsburg Sylvan Centers and the Call Center.
B.A. Frostburg State University. Upon graduation, Kim taught in Frederick County Schools and she completed Sylvan Director certification requirements in 1986. She supervises all daily operations for the Frederick, Gaithersburg, Hagerstown, Martinsburg & Damascus centers.

Messiah College, Grantham, PA; Sylvan Certified, Sylvan Learning Systems, Baltimore, MD; Katie has the gift to communicate Math concepts to students of all ages. Katie enjoys showing others that Math can be easy and fun! Katie also acts as our Assistant Director of Education, helping to monitor the details of customized programs that help students succeed.
Masters Degree in Special Education, Hood College, MD; Sylvan Certified, Sylvan Learning Systems, Baltimore, MD; 30 years of teaching experience in Frederick County Public Schools; Claudia brings her love of teaching to the Sylvan center. Claudia has experience teaching Special Education students, gifted and talented students, on grade students and students with physical handicaps. Claudia has also taken part in writing curriculum for the county.
Masters of Education, McDaniel College, MD; Sylvan Certified, Sylvan Learning Systems, Baltimore, MD; Patty enjoys teaching. Patty taught Elementary School in Frederick County for several years and has also taught Sunday school. Patty teaches and enjoys students of all ages. Patty has been teaching at Sylvan for 19 years and enjoys teaching Reading, Math, Writing, SAT/ACT Prep and Study Skills. Patty also enjoys helping students with their homework.
Bachelors Degree in Special Education, Bloomsburg University, PA ;Masters of Education, Deaf Education, McDaniel College, MD; Sylvan Certified, Sylvan Learning Systems, Baltimore, MD; Denise has taught special needs students at Primary Achievement Center, Maryland School for the Blind, Deron School, Montgomery County Public Schools/Treatment Center and Maryland School for the Deaf. Denise “loves to teach” and finds student success very rewarding.
Bachelor of Arts Degree, Early Childhood Education, City University of New York, Queens College, NY; Counselor Education Graduate Program 12 hours, Queens College, NY; Sylvan Certified, Sylvan Learning Systems, Baltimore, MD; Marianne has taught 7 years in elementary school in New York; has worked as a long term substitute in middle school in Frederick County Public Schools; and is currently working as instructional assistant in Kindergarten. Marianne enjoys helping children reach their highest potential. She finds watching students’ confidence grow as they learn very gratifying.
Bachelor of Arts in English, Lyon College, AR; Concentration in Secondary Education; Ashley’s teaching experience is in teaching High School English in a rural special school in Arkansas. Ashley loves to share her passion for reading and writing with students with hopes they will also develop their skills. Ashley is especially talented in coaching students to write creatively. Ashley also teaches our SAT and ACT prep students, building their skills and confidence when preparing for the test.
