Meet the Tutors
Our Sylvan trained and certified tutors are dedicated to your child’s success. Working together with you, we will:

Lanette M Dutra
Center Director-Advanced Math Program Manager
Lanette was born and raised in Fremont. She earned her BA & teaching credential at SJSU. Lanette began working as a part-time instructor at Sylvan in September 1996. Finding her calling, Lanette began working as a lead instructor & soon accepted a full-time position. Lanette became the Director of Education in 1998 & Center Director in October 2002. When not at Sylvan, Lanette dedicates herself to her husband & two sons. She enjoys camping & spending time with her large, Portuguese family.
Vivian Davallou
Director of Education - Academic Writing Program Manager
Vivian was born in Montana, but lived in Iran for 10 years. Vivian speaks Farsi fluently. Vivian moved back to the US to pursue college, graduating from Cal State Hayward with a B.A. in Sociology & an M.S. in Ed. Psychology. Vivian enjoys singing in the choir & working with youth at church in her free time. Before Sylvan, she spent 8 years as a specialist with ELL & Title 1 students in the FUSD. She is excited about being a part of the Fremont team & developing new & valuable friendships.
Lea Quintanilla
Director of Education - Beginning Reading Program Manager
Lea was born in Daly City, moved to Hayward when she was 4 & has lived there since. She earned her BA in Liberal & Civic Studies with a Spanish minor at Saint Mary’s College & then her Multiple Subject BCLAD Credential at Sonoma State. Lia loves working with children & through her broad range of jobs-swim instructor to literacy specialist-her dedication & passion for helping them succeed has continued to grow. Lea loves sports & the ocean. She also loves spending time with her family & friends.
