Trisha Wade

Center Director

Trisha has an MBA in Business and Marketing and has worked for 23 years with college students and families in Atlanta, Tampa and Columbia. She enjoys helping families make sound educational decisions. She and her husband enjoy their cats and dogs, and they volunteer with PETS Inc and St. Francis Thrift Store.

Cynthia Hacker

Cindy has a degree in Elementary Education and has put it to good use helping students for more than 20 years. Cindy's goal is for every student to be confident and successful in their academics. She wants them to enjoy learning, and uses her love of crafts to make learning fun!

Cynthia Hunton

Cindy has twenty years experience as a tutor, director, and diagnostic assessor with Sylvan Learning of Irmo, as well as five years experience teaching in public schools in South Carolina. She has also homeschooled for fifteen years using a variety of curriculum for multiple learning styles, and has a bachelors degree in Elementary Education.

Missy Talbert

Instructor

Missy has been a favorite reading and study skills instructor at our center for a number of years. She has a Masters Degree in Reading and Literacy plus 30 additional hours of graduate level work. She is currently a Reading Interventionist at Harbison West Elementary. Missy loves to learn new things, and is looking forward to learning to crochet, quilt and sky dive! She makes learning fun for all of her students.

Tamaren Marcus

Tamaren earned her Masters Degree in Early Childhood Education and is currently working on her doctorate in addition to teaching full time, tutoring at Sylvan and serving as a Girl Scout Leader. She loves basketball, swimming, reality tv and trying new things. She wants to make an impact on the world and shape future leaders. Tamaren encourages her students to set high goals and strive to attain them.

Christine Miller

Christine is our resident math expert! She speaks the "Math" language, so that students of all ages and abilities can understand it. In addition to math, she enjoys reading, crafts, biking, and math jokes. She spent over 14 years involved with gymnastics, too.

Chris Kelley

Mr. Chris is the master of all things Sylvan! He specializes in our high school math and SAT/ACT preparation. Students of all ages appreciate his ability to explain problems on their level. He keeps us all on our toes with his wealth of knowledge, and he would make an excellent Jeopardy contestant!

Daniel Busbee

Instructor

Daniel holds a degree in engineering and uses that wealth of knowledge to help our math students. His patient manner helps students to relax and learn math without the usual tension it causes. Daniel is also a BBQ expert. He competes often in cooking competitions, and helps cook for many special events.

Michelle Reddington

Michelle uses her Masters Degree in Reading Education to help us with a wide range of activities at our Irmo Center. She assists us with our Initial Diagnostic Assessments in addition to her tutoring duties. She enjoys working with students of all ages, and makes our camps exciting! She tutors beginning reading, academic reading, math, study skills, and homework support. Cooking healthy is one of her major hobbies, and she enjoys reading, writing fiction, yoga and dance, and crafting, too. She has a goal to run a 1/2 marathon.

Iris is a senior in high school planning to attend the College of Charleston to study pre-law. She loves working with people (especially children), traveling, studying abroad, and photography. Iris will give you a warm welcome to Sylvan!

Briana has helped us at the Sylvan Learning of Irmo for 5 years. She keeps us all organized and assists parents, teachers, students and directors with her cheery personality. Family time, cooking, hiking and traveling are some of her favorite activities. One of her goals is to pursue additional educational opportunities.

Jack has been tutoring with us for 13 years at our Irmo location. He has a B.A. in English Education from USC. He is a favorite instructor of our Study Skills, ACT/SAT Prep, Writing and Reading students. His hobbies include his grandchildren, art, music, gardening and working out.

Miss Alyssa has a Bachelor's Degree in Special Education from Clemson University. She enjoys reading, hiking, drawing and basketball. Alyssa wants to see her students become lifelong learners. We are excited to have Alyssa helping at both our Irmo and Chapin centers with reading, math and beginning reading students.

Megan Watts

Color her orange!!! She's a Clemson University Graduate with a specialty in Science. Ms. Megan helps at our Irmo and Chapin centers with reading, math, and homework support students. She enjoys crafting and spending time with her dog. Continuing her education is very important to her, and she wants to earn her masters degree.

Tiffini Brooks-Simms

Mrs. Tiffini has degrees in Elementary Education and English/ELA from Columbia College and Grand Canyon University. Like most teachers, reading is one of her main hobbies. Her family is her other main hobby! She has homeschooled her teenage daughters, and someday she hopes to open her own school that would cater to at risk students. At our Irmo center she tutors beginning readers, readers and math students.
