Kids’ Turn is the only program in San Diego County working with the whole family to achieve a child-centered and healthy divorce. Their programs are known throughout the United States and have been in San Diego since 1996. Kids’ Turn is a low cost solution for families experiencing the pain of divorce or separation, no matter how great the conflict. While many families are court ordered, a growing number of families are taking the Kids’ Turn workshops because of the recommendation of an attorney, teacher, and counselor or because of their own desire to make this traumatic life change as healthy for their family as possible.

During their time at Sylvan Learning, students earn tokens for their hard work and dedication. With the tokens they earn, students can buy prizes at the Sylvan Store or donate their tokens to a non-profit organization of their choice through our Tokens for Caring program. We had many students decide to participate in Tokens for Caring and donate their tokens to the San Diego Humane Society. Due to these students and their generosity, Sylvan Learning of La Mesa was able to donate $75 to the San Diego Humane Society!

On Saturday, April 11, 2010 directors from the La Mesa Sylvan were excited to take part in the Spring Eggstravaganza at Santee Lakes. The Directors from the La Mesa, Bonita, and Imperial Beach Sylvan Learning Centers visited one of our local Head Start classrooms in December '08. We celebrated the Holiday Season by reading "The Night Before Christmas" and "The 12 Days of Christmas" with a class of preschool students. We love finding opportunities to serve our community and make a difference in children's lives!
We at Sylvan are grateful to have partnerships with so many of the wonderful teachers in our community! In order to show our appreciation for all that they do, we asked our students to nominate their favorite school teachers. On Sunday, Feb. 20, 2009 we invited our students and their families to join us as we celebrated the classroom teachers who are helping to make a difference!
