NSBE Hosted the 2011 SEEK Program in San Diego, CA!

The National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE), with more than 35,700 members, is one of the largest student-governed organizations in the country. Founded in 1975, NSBE now includes more than 394 College, Pre-College, and Technical Professional/Alumni chapters in the United States and abroad. NSBE’s mission is "to increase the number of culturally responsible black engineers who excel academically, succeed professionally and positively impact the community."

NSBE hosted the 2011 SEEK program in San Diego, California which sought to increase elementary school students’ aptitude in math and science and their interest in pursuing STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) career fields, by having them engage in interactive, team-based engineering projects. Sylvan La Mesa is proud to have had the opportunity to provide snacks for students attending the SEEK program led by NSBE members (black engineering students and technical professionals dedicated to pursuing and fulfilling the NSBE mission).

A Night to Remember

"A Night to Remember" is a prom for students with special needs ages 14 to 20 on Friday, May 6th from 6:00pm - 9:00pm. Through donations and volunteers, these honored guests will be provided with dresses or tuxedos, make-up application, up-do for females, hair styling for males, jewelry, corsage/boutonniere, limo ride, a walk down the red carpet, a photo, a gift bag, appetizers/desserts and dancing! Each guest will be partnered with a student from Eastlake Church. These students look forward to hosting our honored guests!

At Sylvan, our math experts will develop an individualized plan to meet the exact learning needs of your teenager. Whether it's extra help with algebra or additional coursework to strengthen college applications, we'll develop the skills, habits and attitudes your child needs for success in high school and beyond. All of our higher math instructors and Directors of Education are required to complete our Math Proficiency Certification to insure that your child received the best possible teacher in their math subject.

SAT/ACT Online

As a Sylvan Prep student, you now have access to our online course as a supplement to your live program! The online course is available to you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Use it for extra practice, to make up a missed lesson, or if you have a question in between meetings with your instructor.

Basic Skills Review

Book Adventure

Book Adventure is a FREE reading motivation program for children in grades K-8. Children create their own book lists from over 7,000 recommended titles, take multiple choice quizzes on the books they've read, and earn points and prizes for their literary successes. Book Adventure was created by and is maintained by Sylvan Learning.
