Part Time Administrative/Teacher Assistant

Essential Job Functions:

• Lead transition games and activities with students

• Answer Phones, take messages, and handle/direct inquiry calls

• Schedule/Confirm Conferences and NEC Tracking sheet

• Collect and summarize daily, weekly and monthly attendance

• Pull and file teaching materials for every instruction hour

• Ensure supplies are available for Instructors

• Monitor Sylvan Store

• Ensure cleanliness of center

• Help students remain on task during instructional hour



Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Ability to solve problems in a quick and efficient manner. Good communication skills, as well as being detail oriented, and organized. Ability to lift 5-10 pounds. Professional telephone manner required. Basic knowledge of computers and office equipment (fax, copier).

Center Instructor

As a part-time Instructor at Sylvan, your primary responsibilities are:

  • Just Teaching! No Lesson Plans. No Preparation.


    If you aspire to inspire, then we want you on our team!

    You will be trained on the Sylvan curriculum and given the tools to teach in a 3:1 setting. As a Sylvan Instructor, you will provide personalized instruction in Reading, Writing, Math, Study Skills, SAT/ACT prep and State exams to students of all levels.

    As a successful Instructor, you will teach Sylvan programs, supervise, interact with and motivate students during instruction, reward students for completed assignments, evaluate and document student progress, and communicate student needs to the center manager. You will also inspire students by developing rapport with them and establishing a fun learning environment, maintaining a positive attitude and demonstrating enthusiasm for teaching and for Sylvan.

    We require:

    • Bachelor’s degree
    • Minimum 1 year of teaching or tutoring experience
    • State level teaching certification (current or expired, not required for math instruction)
