SES Instructor
SES Instructor is responsible for delivery of SES Sylvan Learning instructional program in-center and in off-site locations; he/she is responsible for meeting educational standards as set by Sylvan Learning
Essential Job Functions
- Completes mandatory training
- Teach using Sylvan based programs
- Instruct, engage and motivate students
- Uses table tools and manipulatives to enhance instruction when available
- Provide feedback/rewards to students for completed assignments
- Evaluate/document student progress
- Arrives a minimum of 5 minutes before students to prepare for instructional day.
- Greet/welcome students
- Complete educational testing
- Remains approximately 5 minutes after instructional session to ensure all Sylvan Learning materials are put away
- Communicates student needs to SES Program Manager or Center Director
Requirements
• Associate’s degree or two years of college completed.
• Experience working with children.
Preferences
• Bachelor’s degree
• State level teaching certification (current or expired, not required for Math Instruction)

General Summary
As a part-time Sylvan Instructor, you will be trained on the Sylvan curriculum and given the tools to teach in a small group, 3:1 setting. You will provide personalized instruction in Reading, Writing, Math, Study Skills, SAT/ACT prep and State exams to students of all levels.

Deliver Quality Education:
- Teach using Sylvan based programs
- Instruct, engage and motivate students during instructional hour while they work with Sylvan curriculum materials and equipment
- Provide feedback and rewards to students for completed assignments
- Evaluate and document student progress
- Communicate student needs to the Center Director
Inspire Students:
- Develop rapport with students and establish a fun learning environment
- Maintain a positive attitude and demonstrate enthusiasm for teaching and Sylvan

Teaching Assistant
Essential Job Functions
- Locate and prepare instructional materials for instructors.
- File and copy materials – copy and collate Parent Notebook packets and copy documentation for Welcome Conference and NEC folders.
- Prepare Generic Test files with label, Welcome Conference worksheet, Assessment Observation & Assessment Checklist forms.
- Clean, repair and/or cover books and student binders.
- Hang daily schedule in lobby, highlight teacher schedules and assign games.
- Engage students during session transition time.
- File materials and student files when no longer in use.
- Perform light housekeeping as needed, i.e. straighten magazines in lobby, dust window sills, clean lobby windows, empty trash cans, and general clean up.
- Sharpen pencils.
- Straighten/stock the Sylvan Store.
- Straighten/organize the game shelf, math manipulatives and SBR materials.
- Disassemble disenrolled Student binders and clean notebooks.
- Answer phones.
- Communicate student needs to Center Director..
- Communicate effectively with staff, peers, parents, students and the management team.
