I graduated from Eastern Illinois University with honors in Finance and Management. I love working with families and their children to help reach their academic goals. My wife, Laura Smith, has taught third grade at Riddle Elementary School in Mattoon for 19 years. We have two wonderful children, Zach & Bella, that we love dearly. Zach loves his music and Bella loves sports.

Brittany Ronat

Instructor

I joined Sylvan in August 2011. I graduated from Eastern Illinois University with a Bachelor's in Early Childhood Education with Child and Family Services in May 2011. I mainly work with the reading and math essentials students, but occasionally help with Algebra. I enjoy working closely with every student to help them achieve their goals if given the right direction and attention. I work at Staples and give in home care to a toddler as well as working here. I may be busy, but I give time to every student who comes in our doors and give my undivided attention to their education. I was married last year to my husband, Jordan. We enjoy going out with friends, playing with our two cats, and watching Law and Order.

Hannah Wilson

Teacher

I joined the Sylvan family in November 2011 as an instructor. I generally work with our older students in the advanced math courses such as Algebra, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, but I have also worked with the younger children in Beginning Reading and Math Essentials. I also work with students in our ACT prep course. I enjoy teaching and working at Sylvan because of the dedicated students, families, and teachers. I look forward to seeing our students succeed in their education. In May 2011, I graduated from Eastern Illinois University with my Bachelor's in Mathematics. I also have a Middle Level Endorsement and a Spanish Minor. I am currently teaching a College Algebra course at EIU, in addition to working towards my Master's of Mathematics. In my spare time I like to spend time with family and friends, play sports(especially softball), and watch a good movie.

Beth Lipka

Instructor

I attended Luther College with a degree in Elementary Education and an endorsement in Special Education. I have taught middle school special education for five years in Iowa. I enjoy helping children of all ages. An interesting fact about me is that I have been to 44 of the 50 states and love to share my experiences.

Jeremy Hoenes

Hi! My name is Jeremy Hoenes. I live here in Mattoon. I graduated from Eastern Illinois University with my bachelors in elementary education. I have been the youth leader at my church for several years. I will be getting married in June of this year! I have been teaching for Sylvan since December 2011. I really enjoy working with all the students at Sylvan.

Mallory Hittinger

Instructor

I recently joined Sylvan in March 2012. I work with reading and math essential students as well as the ACT prep students. I am very excited to help make a difference in our students lives. I enjoy working with every student and helping them reach their goals. I am currently a junior at Eastern Illinois University majoring in secondary mathematics education with a middle level endorsement. During my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family, going on walks, and going boating.

Gina Dillman

I recently joined Sylvan in May 2012, after graduating from Eastern Illinois University with a degree in Elementary Education. After student teaching in a large class, it is refreshing to be able to work with students at such an individual level. I truly look forward to learning more about each one's unique interests and learning styles, and helping them succeed.
