Nancy

Centre Director

I have a Bachelor of Arts with a joint major in English and Psychology and a Bachelor of Education with a focus on Elementary Education, both from St. Francis Xavier University. I have subbed for grades 1-8 and also taught grade 6.

I have been with Sylvan since September 2008. I was a teacher and then Director of Education at the St. Albert location before starting as Centre Director of the North Edmonton location.

I enjoy working for Sylvan because I enjoy the small group setting. The most rewarding part of this job is working with a student on a skill and seeing that moment when they understand the concept.

Iain

Teacher

I have been working for Sylvan since 2007. I started at the Clareview learning centre, and moved to the North Edmonton centre in the summer of 2009. The small group setting helps me to spend more time working with each student. I really enjoy helping the students improve in self-confidence, so that they can become more enthusiastic about learning.

Victor

Teacher

I think most teachers can agree that one of the best moments in a classroom is right when the student’s face lights up, their eyes widen, and out come the words, “Ooooh, I get it!” That is why I enjoy working here at Sylvan. I get to make and see that happen.

The only problem is that those moments happen too often here. Then the students start complaining, “It’s too easy”, and they end up making my job harder :)
