Schedule your child's Sylvan Skills Assessment®. This diagnostic test will take place in-person at your local Sylvan and will identify your child's unique needs and strengths - pinpointing the exact areas for the Sylvan online tutor to focus their teaching.
After reviewing the results of the in-center assessment, Sylvan tutors, in partnership with you, develop a personalized program to address your child's specific tutoring needs.
At this point, your child is ready to begin his live, online tutoring experience. Your local Sylvan will provide you with all of the tools necessary to create an interactive learning experience in your home, including a hands-free headset, digital pencil and writing pad. (Remember, your child can work with a Sylvan online tutor anywhere a PC computer with Internet access is available.)
From the comfort of home, your child is now ready to get individual attention from a Sylvan online tutor. Every student has a "real," trained and certified teacher with whom they talk and learn throughout the entire lesson. Students write on a white board, using a digital pencil and writing pad to show work and answer questions, which are immediately displayed on the teacher's computer screen, too.
At regular intervals throughout your child's program, your local Sylvan Learning Center will arrange in-person conferences at the center to discuss your child's progress and ensure he is on track for reaching his goals. Additionally, your local Sylvan Learning Center staff will offer assistance with any administrative needs you may have, answering questions and scheduling upcoming tutoring sessions.
