The Great PB & J Challenge
We know that locally there continues to be an urgent need for food that offers good nutrition to children.
Sylvan is helping this drive by collecting a true staple lunchtime classic – peanut butter and jelly.
Sylvan's collection goal is 30 jars by March 20th, 2010!
Women's Initiative
In 2004, a dynamic group of women launched the United Way Initiative of Flagler-Volusia counties. Part of a national network, the Women's Initiative is engaging women of all ages and backgrounds to find solutions that create measurable change in their community and impact issues that matter to women.
Women are learning the benefits and rewards of leveraging their time, talent and resources on behalf of their interests. They are merging power, money and the desire to act as catalysts for change within their communities.
Through strategic giving, women are at the leading edge of a new era in philanthropy: The Era of the Power of the Purse.
As a member of the Initiative Jo Baker comes together to create positive, long-term change in the lives of women and children by focusing on root causes and pooling resources to increase our impact.
We Care about our local schools
Amy, our center assistant finds time in her busy schedule to volunteer in one of our local Elementary schools, Belle Terre.
She spends many afternoons in the classroom assisting teachers with reading, mathematics, and one-on-one mentoring with the students.
Current Students: Help Those in Haiti - Sylvan’s “Tokens of Caring”
On January 12 and again on January 20, Haiti experienced a 7.0 magnitude earthquake and numerous aftershocks, killing what officials fear may be as many as 200,000 people and virtually destroying Port-au-Prince, its capital. Those in Haiti need our help - and here's how you can contribute:
Each Sylvan student can donate their Sylvan tokens to help the people of Haiti. For every 10 tokens donated, we will donate $1.00 to the United Way.
By donating your tokens, you'll be directly helping children in Haiti!
