"Sylvan Learning Center changed my whole outlook for math in just a little time. I came to Sylvan in serious need of a good math tutor. I could not pass the math section of the CBEST for the life of me. At first I felt out of place coming to a tutoriing center where the majority of the students were younger than me, but after my first session Sylvan made me feel right at home and I soon realized there were other students my age receiving help for the CBEST and even the CSET as well. I worked with their math tutor Michael, who helped me look at math a new way and I actually learned and comprehended what I was learning. I passed the CBEST with high scores and can't thank Sylvan Learning Center enough. I will continue going to Sylvan to receive help for the CSET and the confidence they give me for test taking situations. Thank you."

"Our son is an “early bird” second grader who was home schooled in first grade. As a result, by the third trimester his Math and Reading comprehension was lower than expected. Even though he is younger than his classmates, repetition wasn’t an acceptable option. With little time (8 weeks) to improve his grade to state level, and great concern, we decided to enroll him at Sylvan as soon as possible. What a great decision! What a great place to learn! In eight weeks not only has our boy achieved more knowledge but has PASSED to third grade! How sweet it felt when the phone rang and his teacher on the other end of the line gave us this exciting news of our son’s achievement! Yiiiipeee!!!

Brandon enjoyed his teacher at Sylvan and always came home with a great smile on his face telling us his learning experiences. Math became a fun game and no longer a struggle. Reading comprehension became his favorite subject and an awesome adventure each chapter.

Progress in Algebra!

"We are very pleased with our son's progress in his Algebra class. Sylvan has really helped. Our son was getting an F in the class. Since working with Kent and Michael in the Pleasanton Sylvan grades have come up and he is now turning in his assignments at school. He got a C on his last test. He was so excited that he texted me to let me know the results. Our son likes going to Sylvan because he sees he is making headway in school through the tutoring. He is feeling that he can now pass Algebra and as a result is willing to put forth the effort. Sylvan has been worth every penny!"

Beginning Reader

"Our son recently pointed out a word in a book he was reading. He told my husband and me that it was a compound word and why that was the case. We were amazed. He is 4 and in preschool so we didn't realize he knew this concept. He has made great strides in pairing upper and lower case letters... These are things he didn't know prior to Sylvan."
