Michael Ladley

Center Director

Michael earned his B.S. in Education from Eastern University. He has worked at Sylvan Learning Center since 2001 as an instructor and program director. Michael enjoys seeing all of the Sylvan students progress throughout their programs and watching them learn and grow. When asked, “What is your favorite Sylvan memory?” He said that one student, in particular, comes to mind. She came to Sylvan her freshman year failing Algebra 1. By her senior year, she was earning the highest grade in Pre-Calculus.

Michelle Carter-Johnston

Director of Education

Michelle earned her degree in education from Eastern Michigan University. She has worked at Sylvan Learning Center since 2005 as teacher and director of education. Michelle enjoys teaching the students and learning from them. She stated that her favorite part of Sylvan is watching the students grow academically and improve in confidence.

Amanda

Certified Teacher

Amanda has worked at Sylvan since 2001. At Sylvan, she likes making a difference in the education of children. Amanda enjoys motivating and praising her students. She strives to show them that she notices and is proud of even the smallest achievements.

Jen

Certified Teacher

Jen started working at Sylvan in 2011. She earned her degree in education from Concordia Univerisity in Chicago. She became a teacher to help students grow in all aspects: academically and as people. She stated that her favorite part of being a teacher at Sylvan Learning Center is the joy of working with students to help them achieve their highest potential.

Norma

Norma has worked at Sylvan since 2002. She enjoys helping students understand math concepts, especially at the high school level, and watching them become more successful in school.

Sharel

Certified Teacher

Sharel has worked at Sylvan since 2003. She enjoys making a connection with each of her students and helping them reach their full potential. She says that there is nothing better than seeing them master skills that were once challenging.

Tim

Certified Teacher

Tim has worked at Sylvan since 2009. He earned his degree in education from Central Michigan University. He enjoys sharing knowledge with his students. His favorite Sylvan experience is any time students is proud of what they have achieved.

Courtney

Teaching Assistant

Courtney has worked as a teaching assistant at Sylvan since 2005. Her favorite part about working at Sylvan is getting to know all of the students and building a connection with them.
