Meet the Tutors
Our Sylvan trained and certified tutors are dedicated to your child’s success. Working together with you, we will:
- Pinpoint your child’s learning needs using the Sylvan Skills Assessment®
- Develop a personalized learning plan based on your child’s goals
- Offer unique insights about what will work for your child
- Teach each lesson the way your child learns best
- Build a relationship with your child to provide learning that’s fun, engaging and rewarding
Kristi Slusar
Director of Education
Kristi holds a Bachelor's of Science degree in Elementary Education from the University of South Florida.
Kristi has taught first grade and was a Site Director with the YMCA After School Program. She is excellent at working with students of all ages.
Cyndi Buckey
Teacher
Miss Cyndi has a B.S. in Physical Education from the University of Connecticut with a secondary major in History. She is certified in Physical Education, Health, and History.
Cyndi's son Bob is in the U.S. Marines, has done tours of duty in Afghanistan and Iraq.
Cyndi volunteers with the local Boy Scouts and her church.
Cyndi helped open the Port Charlotte center and has been committed to helping our students for the last six years.
Nancy St. Clair
Teacher
Miss Nancy has a B.S and M. Ed. in elementary education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
Thirty years of teaching experience in Pennsylvania and Charlotte County, Florida has made her a master of the art. She loves to work with students in writing, reading and math. At one time she was a principal and motorcycle enthusiast but now has become one of our most sought after teachers. She serves with pride after six years on the staff here at Port Charlotte Sylvan.
Judi Igrison
Teacher
Miss Judi lived in Michigan until 2006. She taught 2nd grade through 6th grade in private, public, and charter schools for many years and loved it!
She loves working with children and seeing them grow in confidence and learn. Her favorite part of teaching was reading interesting books orally to her students.
She enjoys living in Venice, FL and is thankful to have her daughter, son and precious grandson living closeby. Her favorite things to do include swimming, traveling, reading, and teaching children at her church.
