Sylvan's personalized pre-K programs will encourage your child to love reading.

We are very pleased! No matter what time we get there, everything is organized, efficient and joyous. Our 5-year-old son loves his teachers. We would definitely recommend Sylvan.

- Leighann W., Sylvan Parent

Pre–K is the ideal time to begin building a love for learning. Sylvan's pre-K reading enrichment program is available to children who have not started school, but are ready to boost their early reading skills. Your child may be ready for pre–K reading if he:

  • Is 4½ - 5 years of age
  • Sits down to listen to a story from beginning to end
  • Shows interest in letters of the alphabet and books
  • Relates pictures in books to stories
  • Pretends to read by retelling a story

Sylvan's individualized approach builds a solid reading foundation.

  • Personalized plan: After evaluating your child's reading readiness, we'll design a personalized plan that encourages a love of learning and meets his individual reading needs.
  • Motivational instruction and practice: Your child's trained and certified Sylvan reading tutor will make the written word come alive with fun books like Chicka Chicka Boom Boom and Leo the Late Bloomer. A proven multi–sensory approach is used, allowing your child to see, hear, touch and move as he builds his reading foundation.
  • Proven programs: We'll focus on the building blocks of reading including phonics, phonemic awareness, oral comprehension and vocabulary—grade-level skills consistent with guidelines established by the National Institute for Literacy and the International Reading Association.
