Joey has received numerous academic awards and honors and participated in class clubs, athletics and community service projects.

"Marissa, 17, a senior, scored 29 on her first ACT college entrance exam and earned a one-year tuition scholarship. She enrolled in a six-week Sylvan Learning ACT course for under $800. "September 2008 - Sashin's own words: "Immediately after I began--at age 4--I was engrossed in both math and reading
programs. By Kindergarten, I was reading chapter books, reciting multiplication tables and asking an infinite number of questions. In sixth grade, I was factoring and applying the quadratic formula, transforming my trip to the Bahamas into an expository essay filled with details, and an argument with my mom became the thesis of my five paragraph persuasive essay. Yet, perhaps the most influential education that I received was SAT Prep. I started to prepare for the Duke TIP in sixth grade. My first SAT practice test was 900 and my SAT for Duke TIP won national recognition with 1260, a 360 point jump. I am now a National Merit Finalist and my "clincher SAT" was 2310. I had a Sylvan math tutor for Algebra through Calculus and always received an A. I have been accepted at 10 top universities and I plan to attend University of Chicago. Thank you Sylvan!"
