Don Woods

Owner/Center Director

Don has a Bachelor's degree in English and Journalism from Southwest Texas State University and a Master's Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Abilene Christian University. He enjoys traveling, snow skiing, and spending time with his daughter. He enjoys the increased confidence in students and has been working for Sylvan since September of 2000. He became owner of this center in 2006 and became Center Director in December of 2010. He is also the Owner and Center Director of the Sylvan in north Fort Worth.

Amy Kirkland

Director of Education

Amy has Bachelor's degree in Interdisciplinary Studies (Elementary Education) from the University of North Texas. She is also certified in Special Education. She enjoys watching movies and reading books and games on her Kindle. She loves when students suddenly understand something they were struggling with. With Sylvan since 1999, she worked as a part-time teacher at the Lewisville and Denton Sylvans while teaching full time. She joined the south Fort Worth Sylvan in 2007.

Alicia Amerson

Teacher

Alicia has a Bachelor's degree in EC-4 and SPED from Tarleton State University. She loves to read and if she has any spare time you'll find her with a book in her hand. She loves working with students. She began working at Sylvan in September of 2007.

Karon Barnes

Teacher/Tester

Karon has a B.S. from Dallas Baptist University and a Master's of Education from SFASU. Karon has 10 years of teaching experience for all grade levels. She enjoys reading, taking online classes and spending time with her family. She started working at Sylvan in August or 2011.

Meghan Carter

Teacher

Meghan has a degree in Elementary Education from Hardin Simmons University. She did her student teaching in Abilene ISD and is subbing in Eagle Mountain-Saginaw ISD hoping for a full time position. She loves to read and learn new things in her spare time. She began with Sylvan at the Arlington center in 2010 and transferred to this center in January 2012.

Glenn Cureton

Teacher

Glenn has a bachelor's degree from the University of Houston and a Master's in Divinity for Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Glenn has been teaching for over 15 years at the 1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th grade levels as well as English as a Second Language classes. He enjoys camping,painting and studying Spanish in his spare time. He began working here in April of 2007.

Hanan Fares

Teacher

Hanan has a Bachelors of Science degree from Texas A & M University and a Master's Degree from Texas Wesleyan University. She has taught for 18 years as a Montessori teacher and tutor. She enjoys concerts, reading, running, and playing tennis. Hanan likes the fun atmosphere at Sylvan and started working here in August of 2011.

Cody Hancock

Teacher

Cody is currently working on a degree in mathematics and education at UTA. He has been tutoring students in math and science for 5 years. He enjoys gardening and fermenting foods. He is a vegetarian and loves to cook. Cody began working here in October of 2011.

Julie Iacopi

Lead Teacher/Tester/Updater

Julie has a Bachelor's degree in Education from Drake University. In her spare time, she likes to read, travel, spend time with her dogs and dine out with friends. She enjoys seeing students understand concepts and feels it's important for a student to enjoy learning. She started with Sylvan in January of 1998. You will most likely see Julie on Saturdays during the school year. Come say hi to Julie today!

Kevin Kirkland

Teacher

Kevin has a BBA in Business Administration from UNT and a teaching certification through Region 11. He has over 10 years experience teaching math and science. He enjoys spending time with his family, reading, watching movies and photography. He has worked for Sylvan part-time since 1999 and started back at this Sylvan in December of 2011.

Rachel Latson

Puller/Tester

Rachel is currently studying at Tarleton State University. She began working for Sylvan during the summer of 2009 and came back in May of 2010. She is who you will most likely be greeted by when you come to Sylvan. In addition to her pulling duties, Rachel also does testing for the center. Come say hi to Rachel today!

Jennifer Lemon

Teacher

Jennifer has a Bachelor's degree in Secondary Education with a specialization in Social Studies from Southwestern University. In her spare time, she likes to read, watch movies, and travel. She likes meeting and working with students that want to learn. She has been working at Sylvan since April of 2011.

Rose Mary Walthall

Teacher

Rose Mary has a Bachelor's degree in Secondary Education/History and a master's degree in Elementary Education. She has over 30 years of teaching experience at various levels. She enjoys music related activities, cooking, researching topics on the computer and visiting home-bound individuals in her spare time. She has ten years of Sylvan experience and started at this center in February of 2012.
