Schuyler loves teaching because he encounters a new challenge and surprise everyday. This keeps both the student and the teacher on their toes and makes for a new and fun experience always.
He has been with Sylvan since March of 2011 and previously taught Sylvan's ACT prep course at a local high school where he achieved great success.
He is currently a full time English teacher at Maplewood Career Center in Ravenna.
Kim has been with Sylvan since December of 2009. She has a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood and her reading endorsement for K-12. Though Kim loves to teach reading she also has a great time teaching math all the way up to our Algebra students. Kim loves to see the kids get excited when they achieve something on their own. She also loves to see them get motivated to work with the hands on manipulatives that we use.
Barb Martin brings a wealth of knowledge gained through working with many students over her career as an educator and case manager. She has a B.S. in Elementary Education and loves assisting students in discovering that learning is fun and lifelong. She loves witnessing the “A-Ha” moment when a student realizes they are smart, talented, and wonderful individuals. Barb has been with Sylvan since 2003 and has filled most roles in center.
Susan Maxwell is a life-long educator and possesses a depth of knowledge that benefits all the students and staff at Sylvan. She has a B.S. from Bowling Green and a Masters of Education from Kent State. Susan likes to see students trying to do their best. She likes the attitude “I’ll keep trying until I get it!” Susan enjoys watching students build their confidence as new skills are mastered and students become more independent. Susan has been with Sylvan since 1998.
I am a teacher because it combines two of my favorite things: kids and learning! I always enjoy learning something new myself, and love helping students learn. I love working here at Sylvan! I get to work with students of all ages and have seen many of them make amazing improvements. There's nothing quite like seeing a student gain confidence in areas where they once struggled.
Raymone has been with Sylvan since May of 2009. He has a B.S. in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting and is working on his masters in Curriculum and Instruction. Ray really enjoys getting into the math and making sure that the kids have a full understanding of what they are learning.
Jill joined Sylvan in March of 2010. She has her Bachelor from Ohio University and Masters as an intervention specialist from Kent State. Jill has an affinity for math and is working with many of our high school math students.

Carrie loves teaching because she can look across the table or around the room and see the faces on the students change from confusion to confidence in an instant. This affords her the opportunity to know the students are engaged and getting it. She loves the "aha moment."
She has been with Sylvan since May of 2011.
Kelly joined Sylvan in April of 2010. She has her Bachelor of Education degree from Ohio University with a concentration in Spanish. She is also completing her master of Education from the University of Akron. Kelly loves to see the "got it" moment. When she sees students struggling with a concept and then they understand it. She loves to see their faces light up!
