Laura has been working for Sylvan since 2006. She received her B.S. degree in Fashion Merchandising/Marketing from Rivier College. Laura and her husband have been married for thirteen years and they have a 4 year old son. Before coming to Sylvan, she worked as a manager for the GAP for 15 years. Some of Laura's favorite things include traveling, getting together with family and friends and cheering on the Red Sox. At Sylvan, she is really enjoying learning about the programs we offer and how we can make a difference in a child's life.
Liz graduated from SUNY Cortland and holds a degree in Elementary Education with a minor in Geography. She completed her Masters Degree in Reading & Language at UMASS. She is certified in grades 1-6 and also grades K-12 for reading & language. Liz began as a Director of Education in 2005 and has worked at various locations throughout the New England area over the past 6 years. She works with the families and schools on a daily basis to ensure her students' academic success. In her free time, she enjoys being a new mom to her daughter, road trips to see her family & friends and taking pictures!
Michele teaches Academic Reading, Math Essentials, Homework Support, Study Skills, Academic Writing, Beginning Reading and Camps. She has a B.A. degree in Social Science from Keene State College. She is currently teaching at Central High School in Manchester, and has recently become an Assistant Leader to a Girl Scout Troop in her hometown. Outside of her work, Michele enjoys spending time with her parents and helping her grandmother. She also likes to sew and enjoys making purses, tote bags and historical clothing.
Shannon has been with Sylvan since January of 2009. She is currently earning her B.A. in Human Development/Education/Special Education at Rivier College, and plans to graduate at the end of this year. She also earned an Associate's in Education with a Special Education Certification from NHTI. When not working or at school, Shannon likes to travel and listen to music, or spend time with her friends and family. She likes working out on Wii fit and plays a mean Guitar Hero. Another passion is reading--although she gets most of her reading done when not in school!
Tim teaches Academic Reading, Study Skills, Math Essentials, Academic Writing, SAT Prep and Algebra. He received his B.S. degree in Social Science Education from Plymouth State University and his Masters of General Special Education from the University of Phoenix. Tim is also a teacher at Elm Street Middle School in Nashua. When not working, Tim likes to play hockey and hang out with his friends and family. He enjoys the summer season, when he can spend time being outside.
Christine attended West High School and Rivier College. She keeps busy doing volunteer work with her three children. She also has a love for cats and her family likes to visit cats at the local shelters. Christine enjoys spending time with her family and singing with her husband. They have a duo act together and still perform when they can.
Karen teaches Beginning Reading, Math Essentials, Algebra, Academic Writing, Study Skills and Academic Reading. She has been teaching at Sylvan since 2004 and was previously at a Virginia Sylvan. She attended Keene State College, where she received her B.S. in Education. Karen enjoys playing outside with her two sons, gardening and reading. Both Karen and her husband are teachers, so her two boys are constantly being educated! She is also an active member and past president of the MOM's club of Manchester.
Claire teaches Beginning Reading, Academic Reading and Math Essentials. She received her B.A. degree from Mount St. Mary's College and her Master's of Science in Education degree from Wheelock College. She has previously taught in different parts of New Hampshire, and for 31 years in South Carolina. Outside of work, Claire volunteers doing pet therapy with her dog, and participates in many other voluntary activities. She enjoys all outdoor sports and spending quality time with her family and friends.
Candy has been working at Sylvan since the fall of 2009. Candy received her B.S. from UNH and her M.A. from George Washington University. When Candy is not working at Sylvan, she likes to garden, workout, and train one of her dogs in agility.
Maggie has been with Sylvan of Bedford since 2007. She is currently attending Southern New Hampshire University. She's been a die-hard soccer player since she can remember and won Athlete of the month in 2006. She currently plays on the women's soccer team at SNHU. When Maggie has some down time she enjoys reading and hanging out with family and friends.
Amanda attended D'Youville College for both her undergraduate and graduate degree, earning a B.A and a M. ED. She also has earned the Upward Bound Leadership award, and the Emergent Leader award, both in 2009. Amanda got married just last year, and enjoys spending time with her family when not at Sylvan. She also enjoys watching sports, reading, hiking, outdoor activities, and watching movies. In addition to working at Sylvan, Amanda is also an After School Coordinator in Nashua.
Meredith earned a B.A degree in Secondary Mathematics Education from Boston College. She started working at Sylvan in October 2011 and loves it! She works with upper level math students along with teaching middle and high school students proper study skills. In her free time, Meredith enjoys being a mom to her two girls and spending time with her family. She also enjoys scrap booking and traveling to Cape Cod each summer.
