Success Stories

Outstanding service

"“…….I also wanted to let you know how impressed I am with what (student) has told me about Sylvan. He mentioned that when he said he had a paper due, the instructor went home and read the book to help him. I am amazed. The praise that he has given to Sylvan Learning Center is quite extensive and I plan to refer parents to the center in the future. That kind of attention is not something I have seen with any other tutoring services.
Thanks for your help...I will be in touch.”"

Reading help

"With Sylvan's help my daughter has improved her reading about 4 grade levels, and she made the honor roll this grading period for the first time ever! Her confidence is through the roof now!"

Study Skills Help

"Thanks so much for all of your help with our son. We’ve seen an improvement with his starting projects and such in a more timely fashion and his grades have improved, too. He should have a better year next year. I know he started getting behind and then became overwhelmed and I think Sylvan was most helpful in helping him keep up with his work."

Wonderful

"Our son attended Sylvan Learning Center in Twinsburg intensively for about 3 years. As a home schooled student whose academic needs weren’t well addressed in the traditional classroom, we wanted to be sure Reed received top quality instruction that allowed him to move through the program at his own pace. We couldn’t be happier with our Sylvan experience.

Our son has areas of tremendous strength, where he works several years ahead of children his own age, especially in math and reading. He also had some very real areas where remediation and accommodation was necessary in order to compensate for weak mechanical abilities (i.e. handwriting & written expression) that were well below grade level. Sylvan was able to understand and embrace these various challenges and design a program specifically for his unique profile. He was able to master math through Algebra, several levels of writing with the assistance of computer keyboarding, the ACT Prep course and Sylvan’s College Prep writing class. Each class offered challenging, yet enjoyable curriculum.

We will ever be appreciative of the wonderful, compassionate teachers and Center Directors. Everyone Reed worked with helped bring out the best in him, paying close attention to his strengths and weaknesses and helping him to push through and persevere when he found tasks difficult. Similarly, he was able to move through the material at a much quicker, individual pace when it was appropriate.

As a mother, I felt that these teachers were like Reed’s own little cheering section – always rooting him on and congratulating him on jobs well done. I can honestly say that every penny spent for us was a true value and money well spent.

Because of the help Reed received at Sylvan, he has just reentered school fully prepared to achieve his potential. He has extremely well developed compensatory skills for his weaknesses and increased motivation and confidence to work to his fullest ability.

I can’t say enough great things about our experience at Twinsburg’s Sylvan Center!! On Reed’s last day, I actually shed some tears as it was bittersweet to leave this wonderful place!"

Thank You!

"Sylvan has been a wonderful experience for my son. Alex struggles with many cognitive disabilities and is highly distractible and struggles in school. As a result, even though he likes his teachers, he does not enjoy going to school, because performing the work is so difficult for him. However, he LOVES coming to Sylvan. The token reward system motivates him to work like nothing else I've ever seen. And he can really get quite a bit accomplished because of the low ratio of student to teacher. After he learns something one-on-one with the teacher, he practices the lesson independently, but also has someone monitoring him closely in order to pull him back to task the minute he gets distracted.

I am so thankful to Sylvan, because I truly feel that without the work he has done with them over the past three years that he would not be reading at his current level. He is assigned to the Special Needs classroom for Language Arts, but is one of their highest performers in Reading. He struggles so much with learning, but I am so thankful that he can read. As long as he can read he will be able to continue his learning throughout his life."

ACT class

"I brought up my ACT composite score 5 points! Thanks, Sylvan, this class really helped me on the ACT."

- Dean G. ACT prep class student

ACT success

"I just wanted to let you know how happy we are with Andrew's score improvement! He brought his score from a 19 to a 27, which we weren't expecting at all. We didn't think he would have a chance at getting into Miami, but now he really might! Thanks so much!"
