Meet the Tutors
Our Sylvan trained and certified tutors are dedicated to your child’s success. Working together with you, we will:

Sara Lundin
Instructor
Sara graduated from Central Connecticut State University with a degree in Elementary Education and Mathematics. She is certified in CT. She is currently completing her Masters in Special Education. She is currently teaching as a Special Education tutor. At Sylvan Sara teaches Math and Academic Reading.
Diane Chaniewski
Instructor
Diane is a graduate of St. Joseph's College in West Hartford. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Special Education. She is also fluent in Spanish. At Sylvan, Diane works with students of all ages and excels in our Study Skills program.
Rubi Castro
Instructor
Rubi has teaching degrees in Special Education and Elementary Education. She teaches all elementary level programs including reading, writing, math, and study skills. Rubi teaches in the Hartford district and is fluent in Spanish.
Jason Ricardo
Instructor
J is a graduate of Ithaca College in NY. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Creative Writing. He attended St. Joseph's College in West Hartford where he become certified in elementary education. Currently at Sylvan J teaches Study Skills, Reading and Writing.
Emily Dillon
Instructor
Emily is a graduate of Central Connecticut State University. She is currently pursuing her masters in the field of education at the University of Bridgeport. Emily is the director of our Ace It! program. This portable program allows Sylvan to go directly into the schools!
Hassan Fazelinia
Instructor
Hassan is a UCONN graduate with a Masters in Applied Mathematics and Mechanical Engineering. In addition to teaching, he works as a computer programmer. Hassan teaches all levels of mathematics and SAT/ACT Prep.
Joanne Cialfi
Instructor
Joanne is a graduate of St. Joseph College in Child Study. She received her Masters in Education at Central Connecticut State Univeristy. She is certified in the state of CT. Joanne teaches Beginning Reading, Academic Reading, Academic Writing, Math, Advanced Reading, SAT Prep, Study Skills, College 101 and Homework Support.
Vu Troung
Instructor
Vu is currently pursuing his degree in Molecular Cell Biology with a minor in Mathematics, Physiology, and Neurobiology at the University of Connecticut. Vu is a hometown graduate of Hall High School.
Vu teaches SAT Prep, all levels of Math, Biology, Study Skills and Homework Support.
Jason Cooley
Instructor
Jason is a graduate from the University of Hartford. He currently teaches political science and history classes at the University. At Sylvan
Jason teaches Academic Reading, Study Skills, Homework Support and History.
Jennifer Bigness
Instructor
Jennifer has a masters in Reading and hold a Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education. She is currently an elementary school teacher in East Hartford. At Sylvan Jennifer teachers reading, writing and math!
Elizabeth Hallinan
Instructor
Elizabeth holds her Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from the University of Massachusetts. She holds a Connecticut certification in grades K-6. She tutors all Beginning Reading, Academic Reading, Writing, and Math Essential students at Sylvan.
Sarah Stolfi
Instructor
Sarah holds a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Political Science from the University of Connecticut. Sarah also holds a Master of Science in Special Education from Central Connecticut State University. She is CT certified in 7-12 Social Studies. She is currently a teacher in Meriden, CT. At Sylvan, Sarah tutors students in Reading, Writing, Math and Study Skills.
Matt Noreika
Instructor
Matt is a graduate of Boston College and holds a degree in Mathematics. He is also a hometown graduate of Northwest Catholic High Schools. Currently Matt tutors all levels of Math and SAT Prep.
Carly Schroeder
Instructor
Carly is a graduate of Central Connecticut State University and hold a Bachelors of Science in Mathematics. She also minored in Spanish. Carly joined the Sylvan team as an Upper Level Math instructor and homework support instructor in Spanish.
Kelly Fagan
Instructor
Kelly is a graduate of Central Connecticut State University. She hold a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education and is pursuing her Masters in Special Education at CCSU. Kelly is currently a teacher in Durham. At Sylvan Kelly teaches Reading, Writing, Math and Study Skills.
